Mushrooms in coffee?! Okay, we know it sounds a little weird, but hear us out! Here’s why we love adding superfood mushrooms to our coffee.

You might know that our Super Amazing Coffee is packed with 12 powerful superfoods that boost metabolism, control cravings, beat brain fog, and more. But did you know that three of those superfoods are mushrooms?

We know that drinking mushrooms in coffee might sound a bit strange. However, there are many superfood mushrooms that are packed with some seriously impressive health benefits. Oh, and don’t worry – you can’t actually taste the mushrooms!

Let’s talk about the three mushrooms in Super Amazing Coffee: shiitake, chaga, and cordyceps.

Mushrooms in Coffee: Shiitake, Chaga, and Cordyceps

Shiitake

You’ve probably heard of shiitake mushrooms, but you might not know how beneficial they are for our health! Shiitake mushrooms are a good source of B vitamins, and are also packed with copper. This mineral is particularly important for supporting the immune system, and promoting healthy blood vessels, bones, and nerves. These mushrooms are also a great source of selenium, which provides further immune support.

Shiitake mushrooms are also great for heart health, as they contain sterols, beta glucans, and eritadenine – three compounds that help lower cholesterol.

In addition to being good for your heart and boosting the immune system, shiitake mushrooms can help reduce inflammation, boost brain function, and fight signs of aging!

Chaga

Chaga mushrooms may not be as well-known as shiitake mushrooms, but they are just as powerful – which is why we love drinking these mushrooms in coffee! Like shiitake, chaga is rich in B vitamins, selenium, and copper, as well as vitamin D, zinc, iron, calcium, potassium, and magnesium.

Chaga has antioxidant properties, which means it can help fight oxidative stress. This may help slow the aging process! It is also believed that chaga lowers low-density lipoprotein (LDL), AKA the “bad” cholesterol that may increase risk of heart disease.

This mushroom may also help improve cognitive function, support the immune system, and fight inflammation. Early research has even shown that chaga may help fight and prevent cancer.

Cordyceps

Finally, we have cordyceps! These mushrooms contain B vitamins, as well as vitamins E and K. They also contain a variety of minerals, including calcium, potassium, magnesium, copper, zinc, manganese, and iron.

Cordyceps are commonly recognized as natural energy boosters. It’s believed that these mushrooms increase the production of adenosine triphosphate. This molecule delivers energy to muscles, which in turn can help boost athletic performance.

Cordyceps are also rich in antioxidants and have anti-inflammatory properties. They can help fight signs of aging and improve brain and memory function. Like chaga, some studies even suggest they may help prevent certain forms of cancer!
