Want to elevate your at-home coffee game with some Instagram-worthy latte art? We break down exactly how to make latte art that’s seriously impressive – featuring our very own Super Amazing Creamer!
How to Make Latte Art At Home!
One of the best parts about ordering coffee from a coffee shop is the latte art. The small details somehow just make a cup of coffee that much more special! Wondering how you can recreate latte art at home? Level up your barista skills with these easy steps!
How to Make Latte Art – What You’ll Need:
- Prepared espresso or coffee (like Super Amazing Coffee!)
- Milk of choice – if you’re using plant-based milk, a creamier version like oat milk works best!
- Super Amazing Creamer
- Wide mug – this will give you more space for your latte art creation!
- Handheld frother or whisk
- Frothing pitcher – if you don’t have a frothing pitcher, a measuring cup or any small jug with a pour spout will work! The narrower the spout the better, as it gives you more control over the milk!
Step 1: Prepare the Milk
Pour 8 ounces of milk into a microwave-safe container, and then warm in the microwave for about 30 seconds (or until warm – but not boiling!)
Once the milk is warm, pour it into your frothing pitcher, and then add a scoop of Super Amazing Creamer. This will add some nice sweetness to your latte, plus some incredible health benefits!
Using your frother or whisk, mix the milk and creamer together until it becomes a bit frothy. Keep in mind that it shouldn’t be too foamy, or else it’ll be too thick to make latte art. It should have a similar consistency to melted ice cream!
Step 2: Get Creative!
Now that you’ve prepared the milk, it’s time to have some fun! Get your wide mug and fill it with your prepared espresso or strong coffee (the mug should only be about one-thirds full at most to leave room for the milk!).
Keep in mind that you might need a few tries to perfect it, but you’ll get there! Here’s how to create two of the most popular latte art creations:
How to Make Latte Art: Heart
Hold the frothing pitcher in your dominant hand, and your mug in the other. The mug should be tilted at 45 degrees.
Hold the pitcher above the mug, and begin to pour the milk in the center. At first, you’ll just be mixing the milk and the coffee/espresso together, so it should be high enough to allow them to thoroughly mix together.
Once your mug is approximately three-quarters full, bring the pitcher closer to the mug as you’re still pouring. Then, with the pitcher close to the mug, begin to rock the pitcher back and forth in short strokes to begin creating the heart.
Once your mug is almost full, stop shaking the pitcher and lift it up high again as you’re still pouring. You’ll then pour a line through the center of the heart, and then stop pouring on the other side. And there you have it – you’ve made your first latte art heart!
How to Make Latte Art: Rosetta
Start by holding the frothing pitcher in your dominant hand, and your mug in the other, tilted at a 45 degree angle.
Just like with the heart design, hold the pitcher high above the mug, and begin to pour in the center to mix the coffee/espresso with the milk.
Once the mug is about three-quarters full, bring the pitcher closer to the mug and towards the back (the side furthest away from you). Then, with the pitcher close to the mug, rock it back and forth in short strokes while moving the pitcher closer towards you.
Once you’ve reached the opposite side of the mug, pour a line through the center of the rosetta. Stop pouring on the other side, and you’re all set!
