You may have already started thinking about your resolutions for the new year and – like so many other people! – you might be stressed about actually sticking to them this time around. Make Both Big and Small 2021 New Year’s Resolutions

A lot of people will pick big, lofty goals for their New Year’s resolutions. While it’s great to dream big, it is also smart to include some smaller, attainable goals that you know you can reach.

As you write down your 2021 New Year’s resolutions, be sure to include a mix of both big and small goals. For example, if your big 2021 goal is to run a marathon by the end of the year, you may start with a smaller goal of going on a 5-mile run three times a week for the first two months of the year, and then building up from there. 

Your smaller resolutions don’t even necessarily need to be related to your big resolutions. The simple act of achieving small goals – no matter what they are – will give you the confidence boost you need to keep going after your big goals!

Tackle One Resolution at a Time

If you try to change a bunch of habits and behaviors right on January 1st, chances are you’ll just overwhelm yourself and burn out fast. If your 2021 New Year’s resolutions are to read six books, start taking spin classes, eat healthier, and learn conversational Italian, don’t try to tackle everything at once. After all, you have the whole year ahead of you! 

Start with one resolution, and look at the micro goals or steps you need to take to make it happen. Once you’ve achieved or started working on that resolution, you can move onto the next one. You can even schedule those resolutions in your planner (or create reminders on your phone) so that you don’t forget!
