With temperatures climbing and 4th of July coming up, many of us are thinking about digging that swimsuit out of the back of the closet and trying it on. Especially given this year’s events — months stuck inside with snacks and no gym — that seems like it might be a scary moment. Regardless of how long it’s been since you’ve done a crunch, here are some tips on how to feel confident in a bikini. Let’s get you feeling like a supermodel in that suit!
Let me paint a picture for you.
It’s a beautiful summer day. You’re packing up your car for a trip to a friend’s lake house. Normally, you’d be amped to take a dip in the cool lake water with family and friends. Only this year, there was a global pandemic, and you’ve spent the past three months drinking red wine and eating cookie dough out of the bowl.
If this feels like a familiar scene, I’m right there with you. For real, because it’s my story! Two months without the gym — and without the motivation to keep up with my healthy eating routine — certainly didn’t help me develop the six-pack of my dreams. In fact, I even drove myself to Target to replace my two-piece suit with a one-piece for that lake day I mentioned. But as I was packing up for the lake and trying to get myself together, I realized something really important.
The truth is, you are the person holding yourself back from feeling confident in that bikini. Not anyone else!
I took my lake day as an opportunity to build up my confidence again, and I challenge you to do the same! If you’re ready to take the plunge, here are some tips on how to feel confident in that bikini.
How to Feel Confident in your Favorite Bikini:
1. Eat Good Food Prior to Your Swim
Do not starve yourself. Read that sentence again. Do not starve yourself.
Eating less the day before a swim or cookout will not change your body overnight. It will, however, probably encourage your body to retain whatever fluid or the little food you do consume. Thus, not eating will make you look & feel bloated!
Also – if you show up to the cookout crazy hungry, you’ll be way more likely to dive into two or three hamburgers instead of just one.
Prior to your swimming day, try to eat nutrient dense foods (lean meats, high protein dairy, leafy greens, and so forth). These will keep your body feeling full without causing bloat!
2. Drink Lots of Water
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again — water is the key to all things wellness.
According to a study done by the Mayo Clinic, men should drink 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of water per day, and women should drink about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) daily.
Water will help promote healthy digestion, reduce bloating, increase energy levels, and ultimately cause your body to look & feel better!
3. Smile Often
Research has shown that even if you’re feeling a little grumpy or nervous, smiling will trick your body into thinking that you’re feeling confident. Smiling releases chemicals in your brain that in turn trigger positive emotions & the feeling of confidence! How cool!
Basically, fake it till you make it. 🙂
4. Consider Your Posture
Here’s the cold, hard truth. The worse posture you have, the more your tummy is going to look like it’s sticking out.
Don’t believe me? Stand in front of a mirror and practice this exercise.
- First, look in the mirror in a comfortable, normal posture.
- Second, rotate to the side and look at yourself in the mirror.
- Third, Roll your shoulders back, keep your chest up, and lift your chin. Imagine you are a marionette doll, and someone is pulling your strings straight on up. Notice a difference?
Often our bodies look drastically different when we’re standing up straight versus the normal daily slouch. Wearing that bikini and walking with great posture not only makes you look great, but you’ll feel more confident, too!
5. Drink Superfood Tabs
Superfood Tabs naturally reduce the appearance of bloating, and help you reach your water intake goals! They also contain natural mood-boosting ingredients like Green Tea and Ginseng, which will get you on your way to feeling happy, healthy, and strong. They’re a beach-bag must-have!
We hope these tips have you ready to tackle the first swimsuit day of the season!
