Looking to add a bit more radiance to your complexion? Serums and sunscreen aren’t the only solution – you need to look at what you’re eating, too! Here’s a look at the best food to eat for glowing skin.

While a good skin care routine definitely plays a major role in achieving radiant skin, it’s also important to consider exactly what we’re putting inside our body. The food we eat can have a major impact on our skin. Let’s talk about some of the ingredients you can add to your diet to boost your skin’s radiance!

Here’s What You Should Eat for Glowing Skin

Fatty Fish

Fatty fish – such as salmon, trout, tuna, and herring – is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3s help keep the skin hydrated, and can also reduce inflammation. Additionally, these types of fish are a great source of vitamin E (an antioxidant that protects the skin from environmental damage) and zinc (which fights inflammation).

Avocados

Keep eating that avocado toast! Avocados have a high amount of monounsaturated fatty acids. These healthy fats help hydrate the skin, and studies have shown that they can improve skin elasticity.

Collagen

Collagen is a protein that is naturally produced in our bodies. It’s responsible for keeping our skin firm and plump, but as we age, the production of collagen starts to decrease. In order to counteract that loss, many people have started taking collagen supplements.

We love using our Super Amazing Creamer to boost our collagen intake. In addition to the collagen, this delicious sugar-free creamer has MCT oil (which is full of healthy fats) and hyaluronic acid (which boosts skin hydration). Add it to your morning coffee or tea, or even try it in baked goods (these Cake Batter Collagen Bites are amazing)!

Quinoa

Quinoa is rich in a variety of nutrients that are amazing for your skin. It contains a wealth of B vitamins, including vitamin B2 (riboflavin), which supports skin elasticity. Quinoa is also super high in antioxidants, which can fight free radicals that may cause damage to the skin.

Nuts & Seeds

Many nuts and seeds are packed with healthy fats and minerals. Walnuts in particular are an excellent choice, as they’re a good source of omega-3, omega-6, and zinc. Brazil nuts are also a great snack to eat for glowing skin, as they’re packed with selenium, which may help boost the production of collagen (which keeps the skin firm and smooth).

Additionally, almonds, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, and flaxseeds are all amazing foods to eat to improve your skin’s radiance.

Sweet Potatoes and Carrots

These orange veggies are packed with beta carotene, which converts to vitamin A in the body. Beta carotene can protect against free radicals and damage from the sun. It also may help reduce oil production, which is helpful for those with oily skin.

Green Vegetables

Green veggies are packed with nutrients that are excellent for boosting your skin’s glow. Spinach, kale, and collard greens, for example, contain the antioxidant zeaxanthin, which can protect the skin and may even skin tone.

Broccoli is also high in vitamin C, while kale is a great source of vitamins A, C, E, and K – which all protect and support the skin.

Red Grapes

Red grapes are a great snack to eat for glowing skin! The skin of red grapes is packed with resveratrol, an antioxidant that can fight free radicals that damage the skin. Since we know you’re thinking about it…no, red wine doesn’t count! The alcohol content can do more harm than good, so stick with the red grapes.

Dark Chocolate

Who doesn’t love a good excuse to eat chocolate? One study found that cocoa helped participants achieve more hydrated and thicker skin that was less sensitive to the sun. Make sure you’re eating dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa for the best results!
